About the Director

Clinic Director Al Arnold has over four decades of experience as a classroom teacher, principal and instructor in programs for certifying reading teachers and reading specialists. He has a passion for changing the lives of children. He believes, and it is his passion and mission:

All children can be taught to read successfully.

In 2008, Dan Gustafson, PhD, Dean Clinic neuropsychologist and Al Arnold approached the Dean Foundation with a proposal to help struggling readers. Their approach was to bridge the gap between the medical and educational environments through the Reading Clinic. As the program flourished, Dean Foundation established the Reading Clinic Scholarship Fund. Through this partnership, Dean Foundation and Arnold Reading Clinic work together to make sure struggling readers from families with limited financial resources have the opportunity to receive the help they need. To the extent of the IRS code, contributions to the Reading Clinic Scholarship Fund are tax deductible. If you would like to contribute, click here.
