I’ve been working at a desk, first in technology and now in Post Production, for almost 20 years. Before that, I was a skater and a martial artist. Over the years, I’ve watched my weight and body mass fluctuate by as much as 60 pounds and I thank the gods that I can hide some of this in my 6 foot 2 inch viking frame.

In 2002, I traveled through Europe and then Southeast Asia and found that — just by stepping away from the sedentary lifestyle I’d built — I was able to eat normally, be active and lose weight. I left weighing 215 pounds and I returned in 2004 and weighted 168 pounds with a 31 inch waist.  Then, back to the daily lifestyle of burgers, pizza and a desk, I regained all the fat and weight I’d lost in just under 8 months.

I traveled again in 2009, I spent two years traveling from California through Mexico, Central America and eventually Europe, while working (using only a small laptop) and speaking. Without changing my lifestyle — other than not sitting — I lost the weight again and returned at 170 pounds.

I’m trying to build my life around more movement, more standing and eating better.
