ABOUT

I have been a professional editor for 15 years. It is not my job, it is my identity. I believe that my job as an editor is to account for every single frame and make sure it serves its purpose. It is my job to know what my audience feels at any given moment, and more importantly, how to make them feel that way. Because that's why we watch films and television - to feel something.

I consider myself genre-agnostic. I am not particularly suited for just one specific style or type of project. I allow whatever project I'm cutting to consume me, and my style becomes what it needs to for the sake of story and emotion. That having been said, regardless of the type of project, my work is always elegant, clean, and simple. The most common response I get to any given cut is "It just flows."

In addition to editing, I recently finished directing and producing the documentary film GO FAR: The Christopher Rush Story. I am the creator of Fitness In Post and I often compete in Tough Mudders and Spartan Races. In my "spare time" I teach at the University of Southern California in the School of Cinematic Arts program. I have also appeared on several different post-production podcasts and often speak on panels for organizations such as EditFest, LACPUG, and BOSCPUG. See below for video from some of these appearances.

Here is Part 1 of a 2 part panel I spoke on entitled "Channeling the Muse" which was held at Keycode Media, presented by Alphadogs, and moderated by Debra Kaufman. The other panelists included Dan Lebental (Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man, Iron Man 2), Jay Cassidy (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook, Into the Wild) and Ryan Case (Modern Family, Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

This is a video of my appearance in late 2013 speaking in Boston at the Boston Creative Pro User Group (BOSCPUG) where I spoke about my experience on Burn Notice as well as my personal journey producing and directing GO FAR: The Christopher Rush Story.

This is a video from my appearance at the Los Angeles Creative Pro User Group (LACPUG) in 2012 where I spoke about my career journey and how I found my job on Burn Notice through Facebook of all places.
